According to the researchers, shedding extra pounds could help relieve menopause symptoms such as hot flashes and night sweats given that women with a higher percentage of body fat are more likely to suffer form the effects of menopause. Before experts thought that menopause symptoms were less in heavier women but there is mounting evidence that heavier women may actually experience more symptoms. Based on the findings, weight loss-especially loss of fat- may help women going through menopause to reduce hot flashes and night sweats.
